Goaltender Matt Tomkins was placed on waivers today, as Andrei Vasilevskiy is nearing his return from back surgery. Should he clear waivers, Tomkins is expected to return to the Syracuse Crunch.

Tomkins made league-wide headlines this month, when at age 29 he earned his first NHL victory more than 11 years after being drafted. Over the last several years, Tomkins has played in the ECHL, AHL, and in Sweden, before finally getting his chance with the Lightning this season.

Tomkins finishes with a 1-2 record and 3.40 GAA and .889 save percentage in his first run as an NHL goaltender.
